Ways to Maximize Your Wardrobe

I don’t know about you but I am so excited for fall! I love everything about the season. From the changing colors, cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes (no judgment, please.😛 ) and of course, the clothes! Fall clothes are the absolute best!

In today’s blog, I’m going to be talking about 3 wardrobe essentials that everyone should have in their wardrobe - a cardigan, t-shirt dress and a great pair of shorts - and I’ll be showing you three different ways to style each item!

Essential #1 - The Cardigan

I am the queen of the cardigans! Anyone who knows me knows I have a cardigan for every occasion, in almost every color. I am obsessed, probably because I’m always cold and because we live in South Dakota, the weather can be a bit unpredictable. It's the perfect excuse! This Polly cardigan is the perfect lightweight cardigan for everyday wear and it comes in every color! It’s my #1 go to cardi and I’m excited to show you 3 different ways to wear it.

Style #1

For this first look, I went super casual and paired the cardigan with jeggings, a tank top and super cute cognac colored open toe and open back heeled ankle booties. I love this look because it's comfortable and perfect to wear in the workplace or out to coffee with friends.

Style #2

Another way you can wear this cardigan is paired over a favorite dress. In this style, the cardigan is paired over a beautiful fall floral print hunter green midi dress with a super cute pair of wedges.

This look is perfect for date night, a wedding or special occasion.

Style #3

I’m in love with this third look! The cardigan is paired with the most comfortable pair of black mid-rise elastic waist vintage print pants with wide hem. I love these pants paired with our Emerson bralette with the cardigan paired over it because it provides the perfect amount of coverage.

To finish the look off add some fun accessories like a hat and layered necklace.

Essential #2 - High Waisted Shorts

Shorts - an essential for fall? Okay, stay with me here, but high-waisted shorts really are an essential for fall. As soon as it starts cooling off, a lot of us are already putting away our swimsuits and shorts and pulling out our favorite sweaters. Well, I’m here to tell you that you can leave the shorts out a little longer because there are plenty of ways to style them that works perfectly for this time of year.

Style #1

The first way I wore these shorts is probably one of my absolute favorites. I love pairing these summery shorts with an oversized chunky off the shoulder sweater. For a little extra style, we put a bralette with a fun back underneath. I love the back of this bralette poking out from this chunky sweater. This look is a perfect everyday look for grabbing coffee with friends or running errands around town.

Style #2

This next look was one I did not want to take off at the end of this photo shoot! We paired these shorts with fishnet tights for a fun and edgy look. To add to the edgy look I put on a great pair of taupe high-rise ankle booties. The top I wore was a simple fitted long sleeve knit cold shoulder top and fun high neckline.

This look was giving me major 90’s flashbacks and I loved every second of it!

Style #3

The final look for the shorts is a look everyone should try this fall because it is so comfortable and classic. This look is perfect for running errands, hanging out at home or whatever activities you may have planned. These shorts pair perfectly with a simple graphic tank. The one I wore says “ Babe with power vibes” and I was in love with it! I wore this tank under my favorite oversized chunky cable knit cardigan. This look is so cute and easy to wear!

Essential #3 - The T-shirt Dress

A t-shirt dress is a closet essential! I love a good t-shirt dress because they’re always comfortable and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. The t-shirt dress we're featuring on this blog is one of my favorites because not only is it comfortable, but it has a lot of unique features to it - like the adorable mock neck!

Style #1

The first way I styled this dress is pretty simple. The dress is worn pretty much by itself, but I added some great accessories like a long necklace and heeled ankle booties.

This look is perfect if you’re into a simple and classic style.

Style #2

An easy way to step up any simple t-shirt dress is by adding a denim jacket. I added this distressed black denim jacket over this olive colored, super comfy t-shirt dress and BAM we have one killer outfit! And again, added some great accessories like ankle booties and some chic oversized sunnies.

This is another look I will be bringing home to my own wardrobe!

Style #3

The final look for the t-shirt dress looks like we pulled it straight off the festival circuit! We started off again with this amazing t-shirt dress and added some great layers like this adorable mauve long sleeve sheer kimono with floral skull head graphic print. To achieve the boho vibe we wanted, I added an adorable lace headband, the perfect finishing touch on this outfit!
